India, May 25 -- Iran has warned that Israel could attempt to undermine the ongoing negotiations between Tehran and Washington, even as discussions over a possible memorandum of understanding (MoU) continue.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said that although progress has been made on several discussion points with the United States, an agreement is not close to being signed yet.

"We have reached conclusions on many topics under discussion, but that does not mean an agreement is imminent," Baghaei said during a media briefing on Sunday.

He added that if an MoU is finalised, negotiations regarding the nuclear issue would take place during a separate 60-day period following the agreement.
