India, May 29 -- In a rare and highly complex medical intervention, doctors of the Indian Army successfully removed an LED bulb lodged deep inside the lung of a nine-month-old infant, saving the child's life at the Army Institute of Cardio-Thoracic Sciences in Pune.
Specialists at Indian Army hospital in Pune performed an emergency bronchoscopic procedure after the object was found stuck in the airway of the infant's left lung. The procedure was described as high-risk due to the danger of airway collapse and potential complications requiring major surgery.
