India, May 28 -- India has pledged Nepali Rupees 560.2 million to construct 14 earthquake-resilient schools across eight earthquake-affected districts of Nepal, reaffirming its continued commitment to the Himalayan nation's post-disaster reconstruction and development efforts.

According to a statement from the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, agreements for the project were signed under the Central Level Project Implementation Unit-Education of Nepal's Ministry of Education and Sports.

The schools will be built across Gorkha, Nuwakot, Dhading, Dolakha, Kathmandu, Kavrepalanchowk, Ramechhap, and Sindhupalchok-districts that were severely impacted by the devastating 2015 earthquake that killed nearly 9,000 people.
