India, May 8 -- India successfully carried out the maiden flight trial of the indigenously developed Tactical Advanced Range Augmentation (TARA) weapon system off the coast of Odisha, the Ministry of Defence announced.

Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in collaboration with the Indian Air Force (IAF), TARA is India's first indigenous glide weapon system designed to convert unguided warheads into precision-guided weapons.

The Ministry of Defence said the successful trial marked a major milestone in strengthening India's indigenous defence capabilities and improving precision strike technology.
