India, Sept. 19 -- A 36-year-old Home Guard, accused of assaulting a woman and dragging her by her hair near a railway station here, has been removed from the rolls and arrested, Cyberabad Police Commissioner M Ramesh said on Saturday.

The Home Guard was being produced before a court for judicial remand, the commissioner said, in connection with the assault on the woman.

A video of the incident, circulated on social media, showed the Home Guard allegedly hitting the woman with his hands before dragging her by her hair.

The Home Guard, who was deputed for duty at Hafizpet Railway Station, was allegedly abused by the woman, a ragpicker, during an altercation, a police official said, citing a preliminary investigation.
