India, May 23 -- Indian High Commissioner-designate to Bangladesh, Dinesh Trivedi, met Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi to discuss key bilateral issues, including border security and military-to-military cooperation between India and Bangladesh.

According to a statement shared by the Indian Army on Friday, the interaction focused on "strengthening India-Bangladesh defence ties, border security and enhancing military-to-military engagement."

Diplomatic sources confirmed that the meeting took place on Thursday, ahead of Trivedi assuming his new diplomatic assignment in Dhaka.

On April 27, India's Ministry of External Affairs announced the appointment of Dinesh Trivedi as the next High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh.
