India, May 30 -- Nepal President Ramchandra Paudel on Friday urged political parties, civil society and other stakeholders to contribute to developing a well-cultured and prosperous society as envisaged by the Constitution.

The Constituent Assembly declared Nepal as a federal democratic republic on 15 Jeshtha 2065 Bikram Samvat (May 28, 2008), formally abolishing the 240-year-old monarchy in the country.

Addressing a special ceremony at Tundikhel in Kathmandu on the occasion of Nepal's 19th Republic Day, President Paudel emphasised that realising the objectives of good governance, development and prosperity is today's national need.

This can be accomplished by strengthening an accountable and people-oriented service delivery, he said. ...
