India, Sept. 5 -- A minor girl was killed in a quadcopter attack in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, local police said on Saturday.

According to police, security forces were conducting an intelligence-based operation targeting suspected militant hideouts in Kohat district.

In response, the militants launched a quadcopter attack targeting a densely populated area, killing a minor girl, a police official said.

Security forces cordoned off the area following the incident and launched a search operation to trace the militants responsible for the attack.

Pakistan has witnessed a surge in terror activities, particularly in its Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces in the past few years.
