India, July 9 -- FIFA's Head of Refereeing, Pierluigi Collina, has defended the integrity and independence of match officials amid the controversy surrounding the use of VAR during the Egypt-Argentina match, asserting that referees cannot be influenced by external pressure.

Collina's remarks came after criticism from French referee Francois Letexier, who reportedly raised concerns following the controversial VAR decisions during the match.
