India, Aug. 13 -- The Government on Wednesday sent the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026 to a Joint Committee of Parliament (JPC) for a detailed review and possible suggestions amid strong protest by the Opposition.

The committee is proposed to be comprised of 31 members, with 21 from the Lok Sabha and 10 from the Rajya Sabha. It will submit a report to the Lok Sabha in the first week of the Winter Session.

The Bill empowers the Government to create an authority to take over the management of foreign contributions and assets created using foreign contributions when an organisation's FCRA registration is cancelled, surrendered, or ceases because it is not renewed.
