India, Oct. 1 -- Ahead of its scheduled inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 8, the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) has received the Aerodrome Licence from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

The aerodrome licence, essential for commencing the airport's operations, authorises the NMIA to be used as a regular place of landing and departure for all persons on equal terms and conditions, subject to the specifications outlined in its Aerodrome Manual.

While granting the Aerodrome licence, the DGCA d that the licence was non-transferable and might be suspended or modified in case of violations of the Aircraft Act 1934, Aircraft Rules 1937, or other regulatory requirements.
