India, Aug. 15 -- Delhi was placed on high alert Friday after bomb threat emails were sent to major locations, such as Indira Gandhi International Airport, the Delhi High Court, and several Government

buildings. The threats came just a day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled Independence Day speech at the Red Fort.

According to officials, the emails arrived around 11:30 AM, claimed that IEDs had been planted at key sites, and demanded the release of unnamed prisoners. At least three central government offices got similar messages. No explosives were found in the initial searches. However, the timing of these threats has made security agencies more cautious.
