New Delhi, Oct. 1 -- A stalwart of Delhi politics and the first president of BJP in Delhi, Vijay Kumar Malhotra passed away at the age of 93 on Tuesday morning. He was under treatment at AIIMS for the past few days.Incidentally, his demise came a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Delhi BJP's permanent office at DDU Marg, a development the party had awaited for years.
A five-time MP, two-time MLA from Delhi and first chief executive councillor, a position equivalent to today's chief minister, Malhotra was a prominent face of the party in the national Capital, often seen as the BJP's most recognisable face in the State through the 1980s and 1990s.
