India, Aug. 11 -- Delhi Police will conduct a 'general gasht' across the capital and its 15 police districts on the intervening night of Tuesday-Wednesday - from 11 pm to 2 am - as part of security measures ahead of Independence Day, officials said.

The special patrolling exercise will see heightened police presence on roads, with senior officers deployed at key locations to instill a sense of security among the residents, they said.

Police pickets will be strengthened and the sensitive locations, important installations and vulnerable areas will be checked during the three-hour exercise, a police officer said.

Police personnel of all ranks will remain on the roads during the patrolling exercise, the officer said.
