India, July 7 -- The BJP-led Delhi Government is likely to rename its proposed 'Mahila Samridhi Yojna' - monthly assistance of Rs 2,500 for eligible women - as 'Delhi Laxmi Yojna' before rolling it out, a source said.

The Government has also prepared a registration portal for the scheme and is planning to launch a mobile application aimed at enhancing women's safety, the source said.

The scheme, one of the BJP's key promises made during the 2025 Delhi Assembly polls, is expected to benefit around 17 lakh women from economically weaker sections in the national Capital.

The Women and Child Development Department, headed by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, will implement the scheme.
