India, Aug. 9 -- Delhi's Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) has reduced its case pendency by 72 per cent over the past year, with the pending cases falling from 27,585 in June last year to 7,178 as of July 31, 2026, Home Minister Ashish Sood said on Saturday.

Sood, while inspecting the laboratory, its infrastructure, forensic investigation facilities and functioning, said timely forensic examination was important for reducing delays in trials and ensuring speedy justice.

According to a statement, the laboratory disposed of 3,49,519 exhibits over the last 12 months and has been examining and disposing of more than 3,000 cases every month since November 2025.
