India, May 29 -- Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal on Thursday directed authorities to ensure complete remediation of the Bhalswa landfill site in the national Capital by September.

During his second on-site inspection of the site, the minister said fresh waste generated on a daily basis should be processed immediately to prevent further accumulation and stressed that no new legacy waste should be created.

He reviewed biomining operations, fire prevention measures and the roadmap for clearing the remaining waste at the site, the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) said in a statement.
