CM Yogi launches 35 crore sapling drive, calls it a tribute to mother earth
India, July 12 -- Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath launched the 'Maha Vriksharopan 2026' campaign on Saturday, describing the plantation drive as a major public initiative to honour Mother Earth. Under the campaign, the state aims to plant 35 crore saplings in a single day as part of the nationwide 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' initiative, which encourages citizens to plant a tree in their mother's name.
Launching the campaign from Gorakhpur, CM Yogi also inaugurated the Holy Triveni Plantation and Development Garden. During the event, he distributed certificates to farmers under the Carbon Credit Scheme, highlighting the government's efforts to promote sustainable agriculture alongside environmental conservation.
