India, June 5 -- Days after the deadly Malviya Nagar fire tragedy shook the Capital, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has ordered a sweeping crackdown on illegal hotels, guest houses, and unauthorised constructions across the city, while warning that officials and property owners found responsible for safety violations will face strict action.

The Chief Minister has convened a high-level meeting on Friday with senior officials from multiple departments to review lapses linked to the fire incident and prepare a coordinated action plan aimed at preventing similar tragedies in the future.
