India, June 9 -- The Centre has approved the operation of a special train service between Jammu and Haridwar on the occasion of Somvati Amavasya, scheduled for June 14-15, 2026, to manage the expected surge of pilgrims travelling for religious observances.

According to reports, the decision has been taken to facilitate smooth and convenient travel for devotees heading to Haridwar during the auspicious occasion, which is considered highly significant in Hindu tradition.

The special train is expected to operate from Jammu to Haridwar on June 14, with the return journey scheduled for June 15, allowing pilgrims to complete their religious visit and return safely.
