India, June 1 -- Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said on Sunday that the census in Himachal Pradesh will be conducted in two phases.

He appealed to the people to make maximum use of the "self-enumeration" facility provided by the Directorate of Census Operations.

He said citizens can submit their information online through the self-enumeration portal se.census.gov.in from June 1 to June 15, 2026.

"Census is the backbone of democracy and development. It serves as an important tool for obtaining information about the population, family conditions, housing, resources and the facilities available to citizens. Such data plays a crucial role in planning and policy formulation," he said.
