India, June 26 -- The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to provide relief to students currently studying in Classes 7, 8 and 9 by allowing them to continue their existing foreign language combinations until they complete Class 10, despite the rollout of the new three-language policy.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said students who are already studying two foreign languages will not be required to switch languages midway through their schooling. The clarification comes after concerns from parents and schools over a recent CBSE circular implementing the three-language formula from July 2026.
