India, Oct. 7 -- BJP MP from the Malda North constituency Khagen Murmu was severely injured when alleged Trinamool Congress workers attacked him and Bengal BJP Chief Whip and Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh with stones when they went to distribute relief in the rain and flood-affected areas of Jalpaiguri district in North Bengal on Monday.

Out of the two, Murmu suffered more severe injuries with a fractured head and deep cuts on his face bleeding profusely from the wounds, the source said, adding he required immediate hospitalisation.

While Murmu was attacked with stones that were picked up from the riverside, Ghosh, who was accompanying him, escaped with minor bruises even as he was assaulted with shoes, locals said. The incident occurred in ...
