India, April 23 -- Preparations have intensified in Varanasi ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's proposed visit to the city on April 28, with the BJP and its Mahila Morcha stepping up efforts.

BJP's Kashi region president Dilip Patel said the party's district and city units have planned a booth-level outreach campaign to make a proposed women's conference during Modi's visit historic. Patel said the prime minister will arrive in Varanasi on the afternoon of April 28 and inaugurate projects worth crores at the Banaras Locomotive Works.
