BJP, Congress clash over RS nominations
India, June 10 -- The ruling BJP and the Congress on Tuesday traded charges for preventing their respective candidates contesting for the Rajya Sabha elections due on June 18.
The Congress missed nominating Meenakshi Natarajan from the MP after her nomination was rejected on Monday when election authorities found that information related to a case had allegedly not been disclosed by her.
On the other hand, in Jharkhand, the Congress alleged discrepancies in the nomination papers of Parimal Nathwani, the BJP-backed independent nominee for the RS polls in Jharkhand, and lodged a complaint with the returning officer. The poll officer has given Nathwani time till Wednesday to resolve the objections.
