India, Sept. 30 -- The Canadian Government has officially designated the criminal network led by Indian gangster Lawrence Bishnoi a terrorist entity, citing the their alleged involvement in transnational violence, extortion and intimidation.

The announcement was made on Monday by Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree, following pressure from both Conservative and NDP lawmakers.

Despite being incarcerated in India, Bishnoi is believed to be orchestrating criminal and terror-related activities across international borders, including in Canada. His gang has been linked to numerous high-profile acts of violence such as murder, arson, drug trafficking, and arms smuggling.
