India, Aug. 29 -- The Bihar government has decided to replace the word "Fail" with "Eligible for Skill Development" in the marksheets of students appearing for Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations from the current academic session, officials said on Saturday.

The move is aimed at helping students who do not clear their examinations pursue vocational training programmes offered by the Bihar Board of Open Schooling and Examination (BBOSE).

Education Minister Mithlesh Tiwary said the Education Department would amend the rules and issue necessary instructions to the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB).

"Instead of 'Fail', the certificates will carry the term 'Eligible for Skill Development'," Tiwary told reporters.
