India, Sept. 11 -- Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Thursday transferred over Rs 1,233 crore directly to the bank accounts of 1.05 crore social security pensioners in the state.

Each beneficiary, including senior citizens, widows and persons with disabilities, gets Rs 1,100 through direct benefit transfer, officials said.

"The CM transferred Rs 1,233.87 crore through DBT to the bank accounts of 1.05 crore social security pensioners at a function in Munger," an official said. As many as 98,896 new beneficiaries were added to the scheme, he said. While speaking on the occasion, the CM said social security pension would be transferred directly to beneficiaries' bank accounts through DBT on the 10th of every month.
