India, Aug. 7 -- The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has dissolved all its organisational units in Bihar, including district, block, panchayat and cell committees, as part of a major organisational overhaul following its defeat in the Bankipur Assembly bypoll.

The decision, announced in a statement issued by state RJD president Mangani Lal Mandal late on Thursday, takes immediate effect. The party said the process of reconstituting committees across all levels would begin soon.

The move comes after the RJD's candidate, Rekha Gupta, forfeited her deposit in the recently concluded Bankipur bypoll, triggering introspection within the party.
