India, Oct. 6 -- Police have seized a toy gun, six mobile phones and other articles from the mother of a man accused of raping a woman in Bhubaneswar, officials said on Tuesday.

The accused, identified as 24-year-old Santosh alias Sreedhar Panda, allegedly raped a 26-year-old woman at her rented flat on the night of September 30 after threatening her with a toy gun while wearing a mask, police said.

Panda was arrested on October 3 after he sustained injuries in police firing when investigating officers attempted to apprehend him, police said.

During the investigation, police found that the accused had left his mother and some belongings at the house of a distant relative in Jagatsinghpur district after the alleged incident.
