India, Oct. 25 -- A war of words erupted between the BJP and the Trinamool Congress (TMC), while Bengal Police on Friday said that it had arrested one person named Narayan Haldar in connection with the desecration of the idol of Goddess Kali at Kakdwip in South 24 Parganas.

While the BJP promptly dismissed the police act, saying they had arrested the wrong person as a face-saving measure, the TMC leadership claimed that the arrested person, who was a member of the BJP youth wing, had been employed by the saffron outfit to commit the mischief to provoke a communally charged situation.
