India, May 9 -- Assam Rifles personnel averted a major escalation along the Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur's Kamjong sector after heavy firing and explosions were reported near Z Choro and opposite Namlee in the early hours of May 7, officials said.

According to the Assam Rifles, troops responded swiftly to the volatile situation and moved into the affected area under difficult conditions to safeguard civilians and restore stability.

During the operation, multiple rescue teams were deployed immediately. Security personnel secured around 10 houses affected by the violence and evacuated civilians from the area.
