India, April 30 -- Around 8,500 officials will be engaged for the counting of votes on May 4 for 126 Assam Assembly constituencies that went to polls on April 9, the State's Chief Electoral Officer Anurag Goel said on Wednesday. Addressing a press conference, he said the Election Commission of India (ECI) is fully geared up to conduct the counting process smoothly and in a transparent manner. "We will have 40 counting centres spread across the 35 districts of Assam. Most of the districts have a single centre comprising all the constituencies in their jurisdictions," Goel said.
