India, May 4 -- Counting of votes for the Assam Assembly Elections 2026 is underway, with early trends indicating a strong lead for the BJP-led NDA, which appears set to retain power for a third consecutive term.

According to the Election Commission trends, the NDA is leading in over 75 seats in the 126-member Assembly, comfortably crossing the majority mark. The Congress-led alliance is trailing significantly, with leads in around 30-35 constituencies.
