India, May 8 -- Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Kolkata on Wednesday to hold crucial meetings with newly elected BJP legislators as the party moves closer to naming its Chief Ministerial candidate in West Bengal.

The visit comes ahead of the oath-taking ceremony of the new BJP government, scheduled to take place on May 9 at Brigade Parade Ground.

According to party sources, the final decision on the Chief Minister is expected soon, with senior BJP leaders, including Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, being discussed as possible contenders.
