India, July 13 -- Ahmedabad has created a new environmental milestone by planting 3.61 lakh saplings in just one hour, setting a Guinness World Record through a massive plantation drive aimed at expanding green cover and promoting sustainability.

The record-breaking initiative was carried out by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) using the Miyawaki plantation method at Bhadaj locality. More than 25,000 volunteers participated in the drive, which covered a large plantation area near the Gota-Godhavi Canal.

The plantation campaign featured around 35 indigenous plant species and was organised as part of a larger environmental conservation effort to improve urban greenery and create sustainable ecosystems.
