India, June 16 -- Trinamool Congress national general secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee was questioned by the West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in connection with a case related to alleged inflammatory statements made during election campaigns.

The questioning forms part of an ongoing investigation into complaints that his public remarks may have been provocative in nature and had the potential to disturb public order and communal harmony during the electoral process.
