India, May 14 -- At least 80+ people were killed after severe storms, heavy rain and lightning struck multiple districts across Uttar Pradesh, causing widespread destruction and disrupting normal life.

Strong winds uprooted trees and electric poles, while several houses were damaged during the intense weather conditions that hit the state on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

According to the Relief Commissioner's office, district administrations across affected areas have been directed to verify all incidents with "full sensitivity" and ensure financial assistance reaches affected families within 24 hours.
