India, May 7 -- 5 people, including 4 children, drowned and 1 boy went missing after a boat capsized in the Yamuna river in Uttar Pradesh's Hamirpur district, police said.
The incident took place on Wednesday evening near Kutubpur Patiya hamlet under Bhauli gram panchayat in the Kurara police station area when a group of villagers was returning from a river island.
According to officials, nine passengers apart from the boatman were travelling in the boat when it reportedly lost balance in the middle of the river and overturned around 7 pm.
Boatman Dheeru managed to rescue three people identified as Vishnu, Rinku and Parul, while others were swept away in the river.
