India, Oct. 1 -- Amid controversy over Special Intensive Revision (SIR) voter lists in poll bound Bihar, nearly 47 lakh voters were struck off the rolls in the final electoral rolls released by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday.
The total number of electors in Bihar have come down to 7.42 crore in the final electoral roll published on Tuesday from 7.89 crore before the SIR of voter list carried out by the poll body.
The final figure is, however, more than 7.24 crore electors named in the draft list issued on August 1, which had removed 65 lakh voters from the original list on various accounts, including deaths, migration and duplication of voters. The revised voter list of Bihar is being published after a gap of 22 years....
