India, July 11 -- A 46-year-old man has died of COVID-19 in Andhra Pradesh's Kadapa district after four days of treatment, prompting health authorities to launch contact tracing and containment measures.

According to Kadapa District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO) Ravi Babu, the man, a resident of the Masapeta area, was admitted to a local hospital with severe breathlessness and persistent cough. He also had a history of alcohol addiction.

Doctors initially treated him with high-dose antibiotics, but his condition failed to improve. An X-ray revealed extensive damage to both lungs, resulting in pneumonia. A subsequent CT scan confirmed that he had contracted COVID-19.
