India, April 2 -- As many as 26 incidents of violence perpetrated by Maoists have been reported in the country this year as of March 15, resulting in deaths of five civilians, one security force personnel and 52 Naxals, the Rajya Sabha was informed on Wednesday.

In a written reply, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai said, "The number of Left-Wing Extremists (LWE)-affected districts reduced gradually from 126 in 2013 to two in March, 2026. 01 district has been kept under the category of 'District of Concern', where the violent activities of LWE have been brought under control, but a very small number of cadres are still present. These districts are on the verge of becoming free from LWE."
