India, June 9 -- In a shocking incident from Karnataka's Ballari district, a 24-year-old man was allegedly murdered after being invited to a birthday party, with the accused reportedly strangling him and later attempting to burn the body to destroy evidence.

The deceased has been identified as Basanagouda, a resident of Ballanagudda village.

According to police, Basanagouda had gone with friends on June 7 to attend a birthday celebration held near a canal in the Moka area. Investigators suspect that the victim was killed at the same location where the gathering took place.
