India, Oct. 6 -- At least 20 people, including five children, were killed and many more were missing following severe incessant rainfall triggering massive landslides in Darjeeling district in North Bengal, sources in the State administration and the National Disaster Relief Force said, adding areas surrounding Mirik Lake, Sarsaly, Jasbirgaon, Mirik Basti, Nagrakata, and Dhar Gaon off Mechi were the worst hit.

The terrain areas of Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar districts also suffered extensive damage, with rivers charging down the Bhutan and Sikkim mountains, inundating large parts of these areas.
