2 killed 35 injured after sleeper bus crashes into truck on Agra Lucknow Expressway
India, May 29 -- 2 people, including a bus driver, were killed and 35 passengers injured after a sleeper bus rammed into a rice-laden truck on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Uttar Pradesh's Mainpuri district.
The accident took place near milestone 83 under the Karhal police station area when the bus was travelling from Gonda to Delhi carrying around 70 passengers. Police said the front portion of the bus was severely damaged in the collision.
According to officials, the driver is suspected to have briefly dozed off, causing the bus to crash into the truck from behind. Rescue teams rushed to the spot and evacuated trapped passengers from the damaged vehicle.
