India, Nov. 8 -- From schools and the secretariat to the Delhi Legislative Assembly, the national Capital on Friday celebrated 150 years of the national song "Vande Mataram" with a series of programmes honouring its historical and cultural legacy.

Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta unveiled a commemorative plaque engraved with the complete text of "Vande Mataram" on the assembly premises on this occasion.

He said the plaque has been installed so that every visitor is reminded of this "immortal" song and its profound contribution to India's freedom and national consciousness.
