ZAMBOANGA CITY, July 21 -- The city government is set to use two electric vehicles (EVs) for an experiment to determine how much it can save on fuel expenses.

Mayor Khymer Olaso made the announcement Tuesday as he led the unveiling of SM City Zamboanga's free EV charging station.

Olaso said the experimental use of the two EV units is to determine their viability and capability, as well as the advantages of using this type of transportation.

"We will buy more units if it will help lessen the fuel expenses of the city government," Olaso said in an interview with reporters.

The city hall will have its own EV charging station since it is part of the supplier's package in the sale of the two EV units.
