Manila, Sept. 18 -- The city government here suspended classes at all levels in public and private schools on Friday afternoon due to inclement weather.

Mayor Khymer Olaso ordered school officials and the students to go home immediately.

"Avoid roaming around that might endanger your lives," Olaso said.

The mayor recalled that on July 18, a female student drowned while five others were rescued at Tumaga River in Sitio Canucutan, Barangay Pasonanca after they went swimming following a dance rehearsal amid inclement weather.

He also advised parents to monitor their children's activities after classes were suspended on Friday.
