Yellow alert in Visayas grid continues on Tuesday
Manila, June 9 -- Yellow alert status is raised anew for the Visayas grid, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday due to inadequate operating margin, according to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).
Units 1 and 2 of Therma Visayas, Inc. (TVI), and Unit 3 of Panay Energy Development Corporation (PEDC), all generating units of two major coal-fired power plants, remain on forced outage, limiting the grid's capacity.
The NGCP said the grid's available capacity is around 2,644 megawatts (MW) while peak demand is projected to reach 2,457 MW.
