Manila, March 31 -- The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) approved the request of the Yanson Group of Bus Companies (Yanson) to grant a 10-percent fare cut to all its passengers from Good Friday until Easter Sunday.

In a statement on Tuesday, LTFRB Chair Vigor Mendoza II said the request was in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s call for bayanihan (cooperation) to cushion the effects of the conflict in the Middle East and the resulting national energy emergency.

"We in the LTFRB recognize and appreciate the benevolent gesture of the Yanson Group of Bus Companies in extending assistance to the riding public," Mendoza said.
